Reading Journal for REDEYE

Summary:

A video of attacking that about a 17-year-old guy was kicked had been posted on the Internet, and this video had been “liked” by more than 5000 people on Facebook in only one day. The video shown that six young people was punching a victim, who is 17 and still in high school, and the victim had asked the attackers stop kicking, but they did not respond his request, and kept attacking till the victim had escaped. The attackers also took victim’s wallet and his shoes. The video lasts almost 4 minutes.

Opinion:

The newspaper also had said it is not the first video of violence that posted on the Internet and had led to police action. This video had also been watched by my Chinese classmates; some of them asked me about it—is America that dangerous? And some of them had also asked, “Is that you?” because some information of the victim also fits me—17, 18 years old, Chinese guy, English is not good either… This is not the only case that happened around my neighborhood, there are many Chinese have robbed and stolen by black people and have been attacked and I heard these kind of news really frequently. There are many case of violence in the United States, and it also relates the education and culture of America a lot. I think the schools in the United States should need more teaching about being friendly to foreigners, and the court should also create more statutes of law to make sure our foreigner’s safety.

Who that rising star?

The article of who's that rising star is about a single artist name is Romeo Santos. Romeo was then the led single of the internationally band know as aventura. Romeo was invited to sing a song with Dancing with the stars but due to conflict of schedule he couldn't make it. Romeo debuted number 9 a on the Billboard on Tuesday.Romeo stated he loves bachata so much that instead of doing what other artist do when they invite other artist for duet which change their genre to him. He decide to ask Usher to sing a song with him but in his genre which will always be bachata.

Overall the article titled who's the rising star is about how Romeo Santos became famous for his well recognized music in the Latino world. I think Romeo Santos is a great artist that has so much to give to his fans and is going to go a long way and rise like the star he is.

Occupy protests take it to the streets

                                                                                                                 Sehoon Cheon

New York police prevented protesters from shutting down Wall Street on Thursday,
arresting at least 177 people in repeated clashes with an Occupy Wall Street rally that grew
to several thousand strong. Protesters took to the street s in rainy New York and elsewhere in the U.S for a day of action seen as a test of the two-month-old Occupy Wall Street movement against economic inequality. In the biggest New York protest since a police raid broke up the protesters' encampment in a park near Wall Street on Tuesday, organiczers and city officials had expected tensof thousands to turn out.

I think that the Wall Street Occupation is changing form old paradigm.
First, The United States since the Global financial crisis that is rapidly descending.
Second, the capitalist system can disappear through revolution one day.
A view of Occupy wall street that shook the U.S and the capitalist system.

This article is talking about the City Council is set to vote on Mayor Emanuel's budget, which includes a variety of fine increases. Chicagoans who abide by city rules face higher fees for water, vehicle stickers and garage parking under Mayor Emanuel's budget that comes up for a vote Wednesday.

In my opinion, the new major is counting on such bad behavior to balance his first spending plan, which anticipates racking up at least $26 million from increased fines. And i don't like it, but it's not expected to derail Emanuel's carefully crafted $6.3 billion budget from passing the City Council by a wide margin Wednesday.

Summary:

Chicagoans are the people who abide by city rules face higher fees for water, vehicle stickers and garage parking under Mayor Emanuel’s budget that comes up for a vote Wednesday. Some are below.

Offense old fine new fine

Tampering with city water meter shut off $500-$700

No vehicle sticker (large truck) $120 $500

Late fee for vehicle sticker $40 $60

Vehicle impound fee for arrests $1000 $2000

Failure to cut weeds, grass $500-$1000 $600-$1200

Illegal garbage dumping $250-$500 $300-$600

Parking in residential zone without permit $60 $75

Opinion:

Increasing the fee of vehicular staff will also increase people’s financial burden undoubtedly. As the financial storm happened, the government and relative organizations keep curtailing welfare and increasing fines from the people who didn’t do anything in the financial storm. In my opinion, the government should undertake the responsibility of fragile economy, which could be broken such easily. The government should also figure out more useful and workable policies but seizing from populace to stimulate the slack economy.

4. Speed Camera Angles
5. Mayor Emmanuel has framed his plan of eligibility for speed drivers at Chicago that could be fined as $100 tickets. Pitching is a way to leverage technology to better protect children near schools and parks. House Speaker Michael Madigan agreed at a committee hearing to match his proposal with allowing speed cameras in "safety zones". With a one-eight mile of the property line of a school, college or park district facility in the State. In addition to it, inserting a ban on speed cameras for the expressways and Lake Shore Drive.
6. This topic is essential to know for everyone who is driving on the road. New laws come out often and they are very important to remember and they should be shared between family and friends. In other way it will give responsible driving and less accidents in the city.

This is an article talking about the authors feeling towards Chicago. The author moved to Chicago for several months, and she feels loving Chicago very much. Her friends in LA persuaded her to rethink of it, because of the nasty weather in Chicago. However, the author insists on her opinion, so she prefer to be killed by the weather there, just for being in a good company.

6. Your opinion about the article (2 - 3 sentences)
I believe that someone loves to live somewhere for several reasons. In the case, she like the way of life in a city, someone prefers to live in a big city rather than in the country, because they like the rush pace life in there, furthermore, it is very convenient. On the other hand, staying at the country would enjoy the relaxing life. This is a simple life. All the happiness, sometimes, comes from simplify.

Cheap Chic
By tribune newspapers
Wednesday, November 16, 2011    Pg.34

The latest cheap chic collaboration is Versace for H&M. The collaboration hits stores on Thursday. You can imagine there is going to be a charge. The skintight pants and mini dresses are on trend for spring. The collection is a great hit of varieties with the slinky black with gold hardware evoking Gianni’s famous safety pin dress from 1994, made famous by Elizabeth Hurley. The studded leather jacket looks as if it is very fit, and the silk mini skirt with Versace’s logo.   The accessories are fun too, including bracelets and chokers, sculpted flower rings, silk scarves and purses with heavy chain handles. And there’s some men’s stuff too, including a black-and-white op art print shirt and matching pants that are nothing short of amazing for the guy who dates to wear!   H&M makes clothes for the masses.
The Versace for H&M has delicate design and has varied styles. I like their stuff very much. The clothes are very pretty and very comfortable. The accessories with clothes match perfectly. What attracts the attention of the people is the price, they are always cheap and the stores are everywhere. So let’s go to shopping at there.

Celeb Imports

By Los Angeles Times

The article talks about Hollywood because these days it is getting better acquainted with the varied talents of Mexico’s most popular actors like Eugenio Derbez (Mexico’s most popular comic actor) and Blanca Soto (a former Miss Mexico and alternates between English-language movie parts and Spanish-language telenovelas). Hollywood has two important reasons to involve Mexican actors in this country. First of all, United States has 50 million of Latinos or some 16 percent of the total population, and such numbers has led to a flourishing Spanish-language and bilingual entertainment market, creating opportunities not only for U.S born Latinos but also for bilingual Latin American actors. Finally, meanwhile the Mexican movie industry went into a production slump generating only 25 feature films in 2005. That number rebounded last year to 68 according to the Camara Nacional de la Industria Cinematografica.

In my opinion, we need to look two important points about it. First, I believe that to have Latinos inside Hollywood is a motive to be proud about our national achieved goals like professional actors. Last of all, I think that Latino youth population makes it “inevitable” that more Latin American will be drawn to find work in Hollywood.
